The stormwater samples were collected on February 7, 2022. Results from this sampling event show an exceedance of the following parameter(s) at or above the corresponding benchmark: • SDO #001 (02-7-2022) - Zinc - 0.150 mg/L (Benchmark 0.126 mg/L) • SDO #002 (02-7-2022) - Zinc - 0.170 mg/L (Benchmark 0.126 mg/L) • SDO #002 (02-7-2022) - Copper - 0.013 mg/L (Benchmark 0.010 mg/L) • SDO #002 (02-7-2022) - TSS - 110 mg/L (Benchmark 100 mg/L) Magdaline Tzannis of Shield Engineering provided an email notification of the TSS exceedance at SDO #002 to Zahid Khan of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality on March 8, 2022. On February 15th, Daimler received regulatory relief from the Tier 3 responses at SDO #001 and SDO #002 for Zinc and at SDO #002 for Cooper. Daimler remains in Tier 2 for COD at SDO #001 and enters Tier 1 for TSS at SDO #002. Shield will continue to perform monthly sampling per Tier requirements until instructed to decrease sampling frequency by Daimler. (Shield) successfully collected monthly stormwater samples for Stormwater Discharge Outfalls (SDO) #001 and #002 at the Mount Holly facility for the month of February 2022. During the February 7' sampling event, Shield's field measurements of pH were 7.5 at both SDO #001 and SDO #002. The analytical results of the stormwater samples collected during the qualifying storm event are attached to this cover letter. In addition, the Qualitative Monitoring Report (QMR) forms and the partially completed Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) form are attached to this cover letter. Analytical results from the sampling event show an exceedance of Zinc at SDO #001 and an exceedance of Zinc, Copper, and TSS at SDO 4002. During the February 7" sampling event, Shield sampled 3 additional locations around SDO #001 and analyzed for COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand). The sampling locations and COD values are shown on the attached site map and are described below: 1. Sample name: " SDO 001 A". Sample pulled from high risk catch basin - before it entered the filter - located immediately "upstream" from the pipe that leads to the SDO #001 sampling location. Analytical result: <20 mg/L. 2. Sample name: " SDO 001 B". Sample pulled upstream from where SDO #001 joins the drainage ditch. Analytical result: <20 mg/L. 3. Sample name: " SDO 001 C". Sample pulled from detention pond of SDO #001, right before it leaves the Facility's property. Analytical result: <20 mg/L. The COD measured at SDO #001 was 37 mg/L. Since the COD that entered the catch basin was BDL (Below Detection Limit), then either the filter that is installed in the catch basin or the pipe that leads to the outfall are contributing to an increase in COD. Shield recommends that the Facility continue to inspect this drain on a regular basis and change out the filter insert as necessary. The Facility may want to consider cleaning out the pipe that leads to the outfall in order to remove any organics that may have built up. On February 15, 2022, Daimler received regulatory relief from the Tier 3 responses at SDO #001 and SDO #002 for Zinc and at SDO #002 for Copper. The Facility remains in Tier 2 for COD at SDO #001 and enters Tier 1 for TSS at SDO #002. Shield will resume the permit -specified quarterly analytical monitoring for the remainder of the current permit term which expires on June 30, 2026. However, if the Facility has four exceedances on any of the parameters for which Tier 3 relief was not granted, then monthly sampling will resume for all parameters. 4301 Taggart Creek Road www.shieldengineering.com Telephone 704.394.6913 Charlotte, NC 28208 License No. F-0856 Stormwater Sampling — February 2022 DTNA — Mount Holly, NC Shield Project No. 1140109-09 March 3, 2021 Page 2 Shield greatly appreciates the opportunity to provide environmental services to Daimler Trucks, North America.
