Guidance for Buffer Application
No fee.is required for this type of authorization.
Also, some information'that is needed for Buffer Authorizations that is sometimes missed:
• Send three copies,of the application to the address shown at the bottom of the application.
• The owner needs to sign the application where indicated because the Buffer Authorization will
go to the owner If the agent /consultant of the owner`wants to sign the application; the
agent /consultant must fill out,an,agent authorization form (example attached).
• The stream needs to be shown on the plan
• Show the two zones of the riparian buffer on'the plan as measured from the top of'the
streambank Zone 1 is measured 30 feet from the top of the stream bank, and Zone 2 is
measured from 30,feet to50 feet. These riparian buffers parallel the stream, pattern.
• Site plan must depict'the, footprint of the proposed permanent impacts.
• Indicate any temporary impacts beyond the permanent ones that are needed for construction:
Explain how these impacts will be stabilized and replanted if necessary
• The square footage of the impacts in Zone 1 and Zone 2 must be identified in the application.
• How will the rainfall on the new impervious, surface be directed or handled — Forexample: The
stormwater from the proposed area may flow from the proposed impervious.area as sheet
flow. We want to avoid piping any run -off through the buffer and directing it to the stream
• 'Describe'the purpose and need of,the impacts (explain why the buffer ^impacts are necessary)-
• Describe efforts to avoid and minimize impacts to the, buffers.
