Sanitary Sewer Overflows —April 2022

Dear Mr. Vinson:
I am writing in response to the above -mentioned violation that we received on May 16, 2022. The
overflow in Incident Number 202200570 was due to Grease in the sewer main.
While investigating a call about a sewer smell, our crews discovered a broken clean -out where sewer
was overflowing. We discovered the downstream sewer main to be clogged with grease. We used our
combo truck to clear the grease and clean roughly 200 feet of pipe. Once we removed the grease, the
overflow subsided, and flow returned to normal. The area around the cleanout was raked and treated
with lime. We used a nearby fire hydrant to induce fresh water into the creek.
We take our responsibility to maintain compliance for our collection system very seriously. Our efforts in
stopping and mitigating this sewer overflow has already cost the city over $4,600. I respectfully request
that the City be allowed to dedicate our funds to the maintenance and operation of our sewer collection
system rather than paying fines. I trust that you find the City's actions for compliance are satisfactory.
