Inspection Summary:
Inspection was for the permit renewal. Sampling data and the SWPPP were reviewed during the inspection. The only facility
change that has occurred since 2013 was an addition of a truck wash area in 2016. The SWPPP was very detailed. The
SWPP was dated 2013, but David Holloman reviews the SWPPP annually and updates documentaton as needed.
Employee training is up to date. Documentation of Tier I notifcations were all included in the SWPPP binder. Sampling data
was reviewed for hte last 5 years.
The facility produces organic feeds for farm animals. The brand is Egglands. The facility recieves products from trucks and
rail cars. Dry ingredients are unloaded and a conveyor carries the ingredients into the warehouse for milling. The
unloading/conveyor area is swept daily. There are multiple silos outside that hold dry ingredients like corn. There are several
silos that hold oils like poultry fat and canola oil. The silos with oils are stored in secondary containment (pits). There is a
back parking lot that is used for truck parking and warehouse storage. It was reported the facility samples for nitrogen aand
phosphorus because of DDGs in the dry ingrediants like corn.
The facilities stormwater outfalls also recieve water from teh surrounding neighborhoods, so the samples collected are
comingled.
Truck maintenance is done onsite as needed in a small building. The facility use less than 55 gallons of used ouil/hydraulic
fluid a month averaged over a year.
The only issue noted is that in teh same area, sometimes truck washing takes place and teh water flows into the
stormdrains. It was reported that during the washing there may be some car wash soap used. The truck wasing is
necessary as a part of the regular processes at the facility. There is a seperate peroxide disinfectant that is used onsite.
The disinfectant information was reported to the central office.
Efforts will need to be made to keep the soapy truck washwater out of the storm drain.
