Corrective Actions
Requirements depend on number of shop bays
Most can get by with 80 lbs. of granular absorbent and
6 absorbent booms socks
Good practice to give out the Spill Kit Guidelines
Shows them visually what they need
Tells them how much they need
Tells them where to get it
Working outside shop bays
Corrective Action
Stop working outside!
Some exceptions to the rule:
Electrical work
Glass work
Emergency assistance (or doing enough work to get a
car into the shop bay)
SPECIAL: Tire replacement is allowed, but is conditional
on having a neat outdoor area.

Corrective Actions
Three options:
Remove all junked cars in excess of a total of 9. Don't
exceed that number in the future.
If junked cars is your primary business:
Apply for a NPDES Stormwater General Permit
If junked cars is not your primary business:
Fill out the SPPP form for your business. Follow the SPPP
management practices and have the document available for
an inspector during business hours.
Illicit Connection
Corrective Actions
Disconnect it by actually severing or removing the
pipe, hose, etc.
❑ Fill in the connection with cement or other permanent
sealant.
Warning:
There can easily be 2 violations in these situations:
1 for simply having an illicit connection.
1 for discharging non-stormwater via the illicit connection.
