To whom it may concern,
This letter is in response to the notification of violation for Hot Springs WWTP(, tracking
number NOV-2022-LV-0315 & NOV-2022-LV-0316. With respect to the Fecal Coliform the
treatment plant received an over abundance of rain causing the facility to not meet the thirty
minute detention time in the contact chamber as stated in the permit in order for the proper
chlorination for sampling. This was remedied by the next sampling period. Similar to what was
notated on the DMR report, the operator increased the chlorine dosing to accommodate a slightly
turbid effluent. With regards to the BOD, the treatment facility did not receive the proper
treatment due to excessive flow. The Town of Hot Spring received an average of 1.72 inches of
rain during this sampling period. As the operator we have made several advancements on
locating the cause for the I and I and improvements to the chemical addition to the wastewater
facility. We are working closely with Keith Webb from McGill and Assoc, and the Town of Hot
Springs to identify the sources through smoke testing, pulling manholes for visual observations,
and open communication with the townspeople. We are continuing to follow this protocol as we
find additional ways to improve the infrastructure of the Town of Hot Springs. Therefore, we
respectfully request your consideration of any fines. Thank you for sending the notification. We
appreciate your attention to detail on these reports. If there is any additional information you
require, please let us know and we will be happy to comply.
Best regards,
Juanita James
