Mr. Basinger,
This letter is in response to a spill that occurred at our Main lift station on 4/5/2022. The
spill occurred during a torrential rain event that over whelmed the system for a short time.
City staff monitored all lift stations closely during the rain event. All floats and bar
screens were kept clean and the station done well through most of the event. After the
rain stopped the station began to overrun the wet well for a short time.
The City of Lowell continues to battle I&I issues within the system. Last year we
received a grant that is currently being spent on manhole and line rehab. We are targeting
an older part of the community and hope to see positive results going forward.
