Catawba County Schools received the Notice of Violation on May 10th, 2022.
There were two violations noted within the compliance evaluation inspection. They
were:
-The permittee failed to notify this office within twenty-four hours of the three
pump failures (only one operational);
-An unauthorized bypass system for the UV Disinfection and flow measurement
systems had been installed
Below are Catawba County Schools responses to the violations:
-There have been four new pumps installed and are operational. If this situation
occurs again, then we will contact your office within twenty-four hours.
-The unauthorized bypass system for the UV Disinfection has been removed and
we will caulk/seal the pipe coming into the tank. Also, a new sensor for the flow
meter will be installed and we are waiting for delivery. A third party vendor will
install the new sensor.
We take all violations serious and these errors are in the process of being
corrected. We apologize for these mistakes and we will continue to monitor our waste
water treatment plants in accordance with all government regulations.
