This means that I will need to see the design specs for the culvert in question for the road, i.e. size of culvert, size of stream, etc. It will need to be buried, of course, but how much depends on the size of the culvert. Typically, culverts 48" or smaller are buried zoom of the diameter of the culvert, and anything larger has to be buried a foot. Let me know your next steps, 1 Doug From: Benton, Charlie [mailto:charles.benton@aecom.com] Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2022 3:04 PM To: Stygar, KRYSTYNKA B CIV USARMY CESAW (USA) <Krystynka.B.Stygar@usace.army.mil> Cc: Perez, Douglas J <doug.perez@ncdenr.gov>; Stone, Madalyn <madalyn.stone@aecom.com>; Gallagher, sean <sean.gallagher@ncdenr.gov> Subject: [External] SAW-2014-2014-02251 - Albemarle Dump Remediation Site CAUTION: External email. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam. Hi Krysta, Thank you for your recent site visit to the Albemarle Dump Remediation Site and discussing our proposed project. Based on our conversation, we've reevaluated the road relocation design that was depicted on the Aquatic Resources Impact map. Upon review, we've found that the Road Relocation/Culvert impact was incorrectly stated as 190 linear feet. The actual permanent stream impact associated with the road relocation is 130 linear feet. This includes 110 linear feet for the culvert, and 20 linear feet for the placement of riprap within the channel at the downstream end of the culvert. The project also includes 20 feet of temporary construction easement stream impacts. Based on measurements taken along the proposed impacted stream reach, the width of the ordinary highwater mark is approximately five feet. Table 1 below, and the attached figure, have been prepared to provide the proposed road relocation stream impacts in units of linear feet, square feet, and acreage, as well as differentiating the type of impact. Based on these calculations, the stream impacts for the road relocation phase of this project fall below the 0.02 acre threshold for requiring a PCN for Nationwide Permit #14. If you concur that no PCN is required for the road relocation stream impacts, we will formally withdrawal our permit request for a NWP 38 and NWP 14 under a separate cover letter. We will resubmit a PCN application for the NWP 38 at a future date when design plans for the remediation of Disposal Areas A and B are further refined. We will also be submitting a new PJD request for the entire property based on your recent field review. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the information provided. We look forward to your confirmation that a PCN is not required for the proposed road impacts as presented in this email. Table 1.
