7. Describe the treatment process (es) for the raw water:
Groundwater is pumped from three brackish water wells to the water treatment plant.
Antiscalant is added prior to treatment. The water is treated using a reverse osmosis (RO)
process. The reverse osmosis plant has a 75% recovery rate. This leads to a 25%
concentrate discharge rate.
8. Describe the wastewater and the treatment process(es) for wastewater generated by the
facility:
Wastewater discharge from the facility consists of the reverse osmosis concentrate. This
effluent is discharged without treatment through an outfall line into the Blackmar Gut
and this flows to the Pamlico Sound.
