A recent review of Ammonia distillation comparison data
submitted by Alpha Cellulose, Inc. of Lumbeton; indicates some
differences between the distilled and undistilledIresults. It was
disclosed that Hydrologic, Inc. of Lumberton was performing the
Ammoniaanalyses for Alpha Cellulose w4ile1 their initial
certification with our program was pending.
Although the undistilled Ammonia results obtained by Alpha
Cellulose and Hydrologic were the same, the distilled Ammonia
results obtained by Burlington Research of 'Burlington were
consistently higher. This indicates the distillation step should
be included in the analysis of the Alpha Cellulose waste stream
samples. If the distillation step is to be; omitted, Alpha
Cellulose must submit more data for the Ammonia distillation
comparison study for statistical analyses to be applied.
If you wish to continue to omit the distillation step, please
submit at least 3 additional Ammonia distillation comparison
results to include in a statistical analysis. Distillation will be
required for Alpha Cellulose Ammonia results teported to the state
of North Carolina, unless a comparison indicates distilled vs.
undistilled results are not significantly different.
Thank you again for your cooperation. Contact us at 919-733-
