Inspection Summary:
Site inspection was conducted by Kevin Mitchell with the Asheville Regional Office on May 20,2022. Inspection was
in response to a self reported loss of sediment resulting from the impervious dikes being overwhelmed. Mike
Underwood was present during the inspection. According to the contractor the event occured due to an—0.7 inch rain
event and pump failure(lack of gas).
-Off site sediment was observed downstream of the dikes in an unnamed tributary to Hominy Creek.
-Contractor was dewatering the work area directly into the stream without using a proper BMP method.
