Inspection Summary:
Site inspection was conducted by Kevin Mitchell with the Asheville Regional Office on May 20, 2022. Inspection was
in response to a self reported loss of sediment resulting from the impervious dikes being overwhelmed. Mike
Underwood was present during the inspection. According to the contractor the event occured due to an — 0.7 inch rain
event and pump failure (lack of gas).
-Off site sediment was observed downstream of the dikes in an unnamed tributary to Hominy Creek.
-Contractor was dewatering the work area directly into the stream without using a proper BMP method.
