This letter shall serve as the Town of Spring Hopes response, and it is our hope that the information provided will result in no further action by the Division. o Regarding the Sanitary Sewer Overflow: From NCDEQ: On March 17'', 2022, a contractor was on site to evaluate repairs for the effluent and influent pumps, and he discovered the overflow upon arrival. The pumps had tripped and flowfl'oni the effluent through the channel -caused the high-level float to fail. The contractor contacted the town who in turn contacted Envirolink, contractor for the operations of the system. Th.e town hired Underwood to rehabilitate one influent pump, two effluent pumps, and electrical contractor (JGE) to address the wiring for controls and faulty breaker this fiscal year to address issues at the WWTP. Envirolink and the Town of Spring Hope is making every effort to ensure these situations do not continue to happen. Envirolinks staff is monitoring the pumps on a daily basis until we can get this under control.. It is our effort to strive for compliance with all our facilities. We believe towns history of compliance demonstrates our commitment to operating this facility in a responsible manner. Therefore, we respectfully request that the Division considers these efforts and take no further action. Violations include failing to effectively manage, maintain, and operate the subject collection system so that there is no SSO to the land or surface waters and making an outlet to waters of the State for purposes of G.S. 143-215.1(a)(1), for which a permit is required.
