SUBJECT: WRC Comments on 404 Application for a Seawall for Jean Irwin Property, Lake
Toxaway, Transylvania County
Dear Mr. Brown:
A permit was requested by representatives of Ms. Jean Irwin to install 149 linear feet of granite boulder
sea wall along shoreline in Lake Toxaway, Transylvania County. Comments from the NCWRC on this
application are offered for your consideration under provisions of the Clean Water Act of 1977 (33 U.S.C.
466 et. seq.) and Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C. 661- 667d).
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has no objections to this proposed project. We do
not request that the trout spawning moratorium be required for this project. We do request that the trout
buffer be maintained to the extent practical to reduce sediment impacts.
