This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG530158. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". The following was noted during the inspection: • The facility was not operational at the time of the inspection due to damage from Hurricane Fred. Contact the regional office when operations resume. Van Zeigler (Owner & Permitee) was present and assisted with the inspection. The facility was not operating at the time of the inspection and had no fish. Flash flooding and landslides associated with Hurricane Fred caused significant damage in the summer of 2021 and the facility has not operated since that time. Mr. Zeigler is working with the USACE to construct a new bridge across the river in order to begin repair of the facility. All of the raceways have large amounts of debris that must be removed and the intake structure was severely damaged and must be rebuilt. Mr. Zeigler estimated that operations would not likely resume until Fall 2022. He was advised to contact ARO when operations resume. The new sampling requirements in the revised permit were discussed and he was aware of them. A return inspection with sampling will be performed once the facility is confirmed to have resumed normal operations.
