HomeMy WebLinkAboutWQCS00021_NOV-2022-DV-0014_20220510WILSON NORTH CAROLINA May 10, 2022 Scott Vinson, Regional Supervisor Water Quality Regional Operations Section Raleigh Regional Office Division of Water Resources, NCDEQ RE: NOTICE OF VIOLATION Tracking No.: NOV-2022-DV-0114 Sanitary Sewer Overflows — March 2022 Collection System Permit No. WQCS00021 Wilson Collection System Wilson County Mr. Vinson, On March 19, 2022 at approximately 11:44PM the city was notified of a sewer spill out of a manhole located at 1703 Woodside Drive West. The city immediately dispatched a crew and a single flusher truck. After evaluating the situation, an additional crew and flusher truck was called in to assist. A total of 200 linear feet of main was flushed and the grease was removed from both the sewer main causing the blockage and the storm drain. An estimated total of 412 gallons spilled of which an unknown quantity entered the storm drain. The blockage was stopped and crews were finished cleaning up by 3:08AM on 3/20/22. The upstream sewer consists entirely of residential customers. Grease pamphlets are included in bi-annual mailings and additional information is handed out to potential customers at the Wilson Farmers Market during late spring and early summer.
