Enclosed is a report concerning the Compliance Evaluation Inspection conducted at the Bay
Tree Lakes Wastewater treatment facility on June 12, 2001. •
The observations, conclusions, and recommendations from the inspection • are in Part D,
"Summary of Findings/Comments" of this report. Hopefully, this discharge will be eliminated in
the near future with construction.of a land application system. At thi time, however, I do not have
an estimate of when that permit will be issued. •
Please review the attached report. Ofparticular importance is Item D(7), which asks for a

Section D: Summary of Findings/Comments:
1. The waste at this facility is 100% domestic from a water oriented residential development.
2. This WWTP is a 20,000 gpd extended aeration plant with an aerated sludge digester, a sludge
holding basin, tablet chlorinator, flow measurement, and a "polishing" pond.with approximately 90
days holding capacity.
3. At the time of the inspection, one of the plant's sludge return lines was clogged and inoperable. The
ORC completed repairs to this line during the course of the inspection.

4. There is some doubt as to the accuracy of the facility's flow meter. IA sticker inside the meter panel
indicates that the last calibration of this equipment took place in i cto1ber of 1997. As discussed at
the time of the inspection, this warrants immediate attention.
5. Sludge levels in both clarifiers appeared to be excessively high, within 12"-14" of the surface.
Wasting of sludge is obviously required. However, at this time, tHereiis no known sludge disposal
program identified, aside from the storage basin between the plant and the long term detention pond.
A method of actually disposing of sludge completely out of the system would greatly benefit this
facility. -
6. The tablets used in the disinfection system were. noted to be for swimming pool use. Tablets for this
system should be specifically for use with wastewater applications.'•
7 A compliance evaluation review of the last 12 months of self monitoring data did not reveal any
monthly effluent limits violations (copy attached). However, this review discovered that no
monitoring data has been received for the month of Septe»aber, 2000. Please provide the
monitoring report for that month to the Fayetteville Regional Office no later than July 2, 2001.
8. As discussed during the inspection, laboratory records are to be m dint lined on -site. Historically, the
ORC has kept this data at his home. These reports must be kept available at Bay Tree Lakes.
