Mr. Dowden, Clariant Corporation would like to request an extension to the deadline to submit a renewal application for our NPDES wastewater permit. The details are as follows: Clariant Corporation Mt. Holly East Plant 11701 Mount Holly Road Permit Renewal Extension (60-days) to 9/2/22 Page 1 of 2 Clariant Corporation NC 0004375 Charlotte, NC 28214 Permit # NC0004375 This permit expires on December 31, 2022. The deadline to submit the permit renewal application is 180 days prior to expiration, which is July 4, 2022. Clariant requests authorization to extend the renewal application deadline for 60 days, to September 2, 2022. We request the additional time to ensure that our application can be complete and accurate. There are numerous influent sources which will require some effort to determine current flows, and these sources will also need to be sampled to ensure proper characterization. In starting to prepare the application, Clariant has come to believe that the assistance of an expert wastewater consultant will be beneficial. Allowing an extension will provide us with time to secure a consultant, assess the influent source flows, conduct sampling of each influent source, analyze the data, and prepare the application.
