On April 13, 2022, Roberto Scheller of this Office conducted an inspection at the subject facility.
This inspection was conducted as a Compliance Evaluation Inspection (CEI) to ensure compliance
with permit requirements and conditions. It was noted that no discharge has been reported
during the 12-month (March 2021 through February 2022) compliance history review. At the
time of inspection, the subject facility appeared to be well maintained. We wish to thank you for
your assistance regarding this inspection.

The current NPDES Permit NC0049905 became effective on November 1, 2018 and expires on June
30, 2023. Permit is for the continued operation of existing wastewater treatment facility that consist of
a 0.5 MGD retention pond that discharges via Outfall #001 and stormwater containment berm that
discharges via Outfall #002. Discharge of boiler blowdown, water softener blowdown and stormwater
is via Outfall #001. Discharges are to an unnamed tributary of Grants Creek, classified as Class C
waters, in the Yadkin Pee -Dee River Basin.
Please note that in accordance with North Carolina Administrative Code (NCAC) 15A NCAC 2H .0105
(e), Applications for permit renewals shall be accomplished by filling the appropriate application form
as listed in Paragraph (a) of this Rule, with the processing fee, at least 180 days prior to expiration of
a permit. Renewal requests received less than 180 days prior to permit expiration will be required to
pay the new application/modification/late fee rather than the timely renewal without modification fee.
Review of the past 12-months (March 2021 to February 2022) compliance history faclity did not
report any flow at discharge. At time of inspection retention pond had 12-15 foot of free board.
It is recommended that facility investigate removal of waste stream, boiler blowdown and water
softener blowdown, and direct flows to the City of Salisbury sewer collection system. Stormwater
could then be permitted under a Stormwater Permit for the subject site.
