Albemarle received funding through the Division of Water Infrastructure for $16,453,000 in  funding for a major renovation to the Long Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The primary  objective of the project is to transition the aeration process from the floating aerators over to  diffused aeration.  The project would also provide for 8,000,000 gallons of flow equalization  volume to manage peak flow events.    2. The Engineering Report was submitted to the NCDEQ Wastewater Projects Unit on August 25,  2021.  3. A Request for Additional Information was received on November 9th, 2021.    4. The revised Engineering Report was submitted back to the Division of Water Infrastructure on  December 8th, 2021.     5. The project cost has increased to $19,385,000.  This was presented to the Albemarle City Council  in December of 2021 and Council re‐affirmed their commitment to the project.    6. The Final Engineering Report will be submitted this month.  We expect to receive approval from  NCDEQ DWI upon submittal of final ER.    7. On March 31, 2022, the City submitted a revised SOC application with new proposed milestone  completion dates.  These dates reflect the scope and timeline of the proposed improvements at  the WWTP, project CS370522‐08. Please see the table below for those milestones and dates:    Scheduled Activity Original Due Date Proposed Due Date Submit Quarterly Progress Reports (see details in paragraph 2(b) below.) Albemarle’s Council voted to utilize all funds obligated under CS370522‐07 on gravity sewer  rehabilitation.  The Phase 3 project includes an investment of $6,156,000 on the rehabilitation of  24”, 18”, 12”, and 8” gravity sewer along two major outfalls that are known sources of inflow and  infiltration.    9. The project CS370522‐07 is currently in the design phase and will be submitted to DWI for review  February 2022.  The project is expected to begin construction in the Summer of 2022 and take  approximately nine months to complete.  10. The project design package for project CS370522‐07 was submitted to DWI in early February.  DWI  completed its review and provided comments on April 1st, 2022.  We plan to resubmit the design  package this month to address the comments.  11. On March 31, 2022, the City submitted a revised SOC application with new proposed milestone  completion dates.  The proposed work for the collection system is slated to be completed by  November 30, 2023.  Please see the table below for the milestones and proposed completion  dates:    Scheduled Activity Original Due Date in Executed SOC Proposed Due Date Submit Quarterly Progress Reports (see details in paragraph 2(b) below.)
