Chatham County
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources
(DEMLR) has reviewed and approved the request to amend Attachment A of the ordinance to add
Wireless Telecommunication Towers as an allowable use with regard to the request received by our office
on March 24, 2022. The County submitted the request in compliance with the Water Supply Watershed
Protection Rules. DEMLR approved the ordinance amendment in accordance with North Carolina
General Statute 143-214.5 and North Carolina Administrative Code 15A NCAC 2B .0100, .0200 and
.0623. Please note that this approval pertains only to the requested amendment to Attachment A.
Chatham County stated that they would be submitting requests to amend other parts of the ordinance in
the future.
