We are in receipt of the Department's compliance inspection report and cover letter
dated, December 17, 2021. As requested, information regarding the water softeners can
be found below.
1. The city/county water supply is introduced to the water softener which is then
used in the boiler and kilns as steam.
2. The water softener backwash is discharged into the ash pond.
3. Salts are used in the water softener with no other additives. See attached SDS.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with this information and look forward to
working with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources to
