By public notice dated August 8, 2006, we announced the application of the Town of Nags
Head for a Department of the Army permit to excavate 4.6 million cubic yards of beach-quality
sediment from an offshore borrow source, and deposit the material along approximately 10 miles
of ocean shoreline, in the Town of Nags Head, Dare County, North Carolina.
By correspondence dated September 2, 2006, your agency requested a 14-day extension of the
public notice commenting period. Pursuant to Part II -Coordination Procedures of the Clean
Water Act Section 404(q) Memorandum Between the Department of Commerce and the
Department of the Army, your request fora 14-day extension is hereby granted. Accordingly,
the new public notice expiration date is hereby extended to September 21, 2006.
