This is to inform you that NCDOT’s Division of Highways Structures Management Unit has begun the planning and
engineering studies for the replacement of Bridge 560033 on NC 208 over Shelton Laurel Creek in Madison County.

We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating potential environmental
impacts of the project. Your comments will be used in the preparation of a Categorical Exclusion, prepared in
accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. We kindly request your response by May 1, 2022, so that your
comments can be used in the preparation of the environmental document. A project vicinity map and study area map
for the project are attached.
