Re: Exemption from Monitoring During Shut -Down (Site Dormancy)
Hanson Aggregates — Elm City Quarry, Certificate of Coverage NCGO20182
Elm City, Wilson County, NC
Dear Mr. Smith:
No industrial activity has taken place at the Elm City Quarry since the mid-1990s, and the site has been
stabilized with vegetation for several years. No wastewater is generated, and there are no wastewater
treatment units. There are no stormwater discharges resulting from land disturbance activities. On July 28,
2015, Andrew Martin conducted a multi -media inspection at the site and will concur that no industrial
activity was taking place at the time of his inspection.
Due to the site inactivity, Hanson requests that the Elm City Quarry be exempt from monitoring as
described in the Permit as long as the site remains dormant and stabilized. BMP Summaries will be
reviewed and updated annually. Annual permit fees will be paid, and all SWPPP aspects will be reviewed
and updated annually. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please call me: (919)
380-2746.
Sincerely,
Jac Garvey
