Heather,
NCWRC does not have specific comment with regard to the request to extend dredge operations to
April 8. Our comments for this project were more specific to activities on the beach. Therefore, all
activities, including equipment removal, smoothing the beach, or addressing any other concerns
(tilling, escarpment removal, non -compatible material removal) should be conducted prior to the
start of sea turtle nesting season on May 1.
Please do not hesitate to call or email if there is anything additional. We look forward to forthcoming
information regarding project progression, completion, or any complications.
Thank you.
Maria

Good afternoon AM,
The DWR will defer to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC), US Fish and Wildlife Service
(USFWS), NC Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF), and/or National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS)
for compliance with all moratoriums on construction activities beyond the dates established by the
permit conditions. The DWR 401 approval contains the following condition:
The Permittee shall comply with any moratoriums as required by the NC Division of Marine
Fisheries, NC Wildlife Resources, US Fish and Wildlife and National Marine Fisheries. Exceptions to
this condition require written approval by the resource agency responsible for the given
moratorium. If such activities should take place during periods of high biological activity (e.g.
shorebird, or sea turtle nesting), biological monitoring may be required at the request of other
state and federal agencies and coordinated with these dredging activities.
Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Holley Snider .•" ,><((((°>•' .•.,,..><((((°>.•—

Hi Kim,
Well, I didn't get much more than this, but Fran did say the additional requested time is for both
dredging and demobilization. Please see his request below for 8 additional days of moratorium relief
(allowing work through April 8).
Maria, I believe you requested a May 1 start to the moratorium, but want to make you aware of this
as well in case you have any questions or concerns. Holley, I don't think you guys have date
restrictions on the 401, but want to also let you know in case I'm mistaken!
I believe the ACE permit runs through April 30, but I'm also confirming that with Greg. I'm attaching
the last QC report- as of Monday they had completed
Thanks ladies!
H.

Hi Heather,
Per our discussions, the town of Holden Beach would like to extend the beach nourishment permit
to Friday, April 8, 2022.
Weeks is doing their best to finish by the end of March and get to their next project but they may
need a little more time.
Thanks
Fran
