NowellX\`\\`\ SUBJECT: 201 Facility Plan Update - Hickory\Longview\Burke Co. Complex Project #521 Burke County The Technical Support Branch has reviewed the report on the 201 Facility Plan for the subject facilities. In August 1992, the Water Quality Section com- pleted a speculative analysis for the Hickory -Henry Fork WWTP at 9 MGD and 12 MGD. The results are included in Appendix A of the report and we have no addi- tional comments at this time. Regarding the Town of Longview, our files indicate that at the Town's request, the NPDES permit for that facility was rescinded in December, 1991. If Longview should choose the option of operating a system to discharge to surface waters again, a formal application would have to be submitted to the Division. More stringent limits than previously permitted, including whole effluent toxic- ity testing, would more than likely be assigned to a new Longview wastewater treatment facility. Preston Howard, Jr., P.E. Acting Director SUBJECT: City of Hickory Henry Fork Creek WWTP Phosphorus Limits Project No. CS370389-17 This letter is written to clarify my previous letter to you dated November 12, 1992. Our office recently held a meeting with the Technical Services Branch of the Water Quality Section to further discuss the likelihood.of receiving phosphorus limits. A management plan to control phosphorus loading throughout the South Fork Watershed will be in place as a part of the Catawba River Basinwide Plan which is due April, 1995. Exact limits can not be established until the Basinwide Plan is completed. Therefore, it is recommended that the Henry Fork WWIP be designed with the flexibility to achieve a range of possible phosphorus limits.
