Good morning Sue, Let me expound a little on the feasibility of an offline pond in the area you referenced. The soils in this area are extremely rocky with numerous rock outcroppings. An offline pond would have to be excavated in that area. When I referred to topography I was referencing the fact that a offline pond would have to be dug because of the topography. Digging a pond in this area is not feasible because of the substantial rock and bedrock. I have little confidence that we could get any depth for the pond storage in this area. Additionally the topography in this area does not lend itself to create an earthen fill dam section. There are no real existing connection pond for a dam to tie to. This area is also pretty close to the North Prong of Lewis Fork Creek. It has a substantial buffer that will remain in place, An offline pond in this area would likely need to encroach on that buffer area. While not the main criteria, the area also has a stacked stone chimney that is from approximately 1900 that remains in place and is likely historic in nature from an early settlement in the area. Please let me know if you need more information. Please respond to the following items within 30 days. Please note the application is considered "on hold" until receipt of a response to the items below. 1. You noted that an offline pond is not feasible due to steep topography. It appears that just below the proposed location the valley opens up and there is potential for an offline pond along this tributary, or i an offline pond adjacent to North Prong Lewis Fork. Mapping indicates this area is owned by the same entity and there appears to be an adequate access point at that location.
