REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION
Dear Mr. Champion:
On March 10, 2006 the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your Minor Variance application to impact
the Neuse River riparian buffer to construct a proposed dwelling. The DWQ has determined that your
application was incomplete and/or provided inaccurate information and issued you a Request for More
Information letter on April 4, 2006. On April 24, 2006, the DWQ received your response and determined that
your response did not adequately answer all of the issues requested. The DWQ will require additional
information in order to process your application to impact protected riparian buffer on the subject property.
Therefore, unless we receive the additional information requested below, we will have to move toward denial of
your application as required by 15A NCAC 2B .0233 and will place this project on hold as incomplete until we
receive this additional information. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review
your project.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Impacts
In the application under Part 2: Proposed Activity #1 in bold letters at the end of the paragraph
indicates that the area of buffer impacts be given in square footage, a number is needed to complete
this portion of the form. Please provide this information.
2. Plat
Provide a corrected plat with all new impacts shown on site with the riparian buffer zones indicated, (i.e.
Zone 1 is the first 30 feet landward and Zone 2 is the outer 20 feet to comprise a full 50 feet) and all the
impacts within the buffered area.

• Is there impervious surface proposed underneath
• Will it be constructed of slatted wood decking
Please respond in writing within four weeks of the date of this letter by sending this information to Kyle Barnes
of the DWQ Washington Regional Office. If we do not hear from you within four weeks, we will assume that
you no longer want to pursue this project and we will consider the project as withdrawn.
This letter only addresses the application review and does not authorize any impacts to wetlands, waters or
protected buffers. Please be aware that any impacts requested within your application are not authorized (at
this time) by the DWQ. Please call Mr. Kyle Barnes at 252-948-3917 if you have any questions regarding or
