This correspondence is in regard to your request for more information dated May 31, 2007, regarding
the Blueberry Farm at Shallotte. The subject property is located south of the Town of Shallotte, and west
of the intersection of NC Highway 179 and Hale Swamp Road in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
In regard to your comments and requests, please accept the following:
1. Please find enclosed the building envelopes for all lots containing wetlands. We are
currently engaged in discussions with the USACE regarding the restrictive covenant
document.
2. We are not proposing bottomless culverts for this project. We are proposing conventional
circular culverts. Unlike bottomless culverts that require footers within which the edges of
the culvert are embedded, circular culverts do not require "artificial" foundational support.

The shape and position of circular culverts are kept in-tact by a compacted soil bottom and
proper haunching and backfilling around the sides and top of the culvert.
3. Because this project is located in a coastal county, 15A NCAC 02H.1006 does not apply, and
it is eligible for the low density option. The engineer for this project, Compass Pointe
Engineering, is resolving issues and has not yet completed a state stormwater permit.
We would like to request additional time to allow for the resolution of the restrictive covenant and the
completion of the stormwater permit. Thank you for your time and consideration and please do not
