The drop inlet will fall to an elevation close to the adjacent wetland and then drain out a pipe, through the shoulder. If we cut the swale back to the wetland, it will actually draw water from the wetland to the drain line. If the road was higher and we had more fill associated with this project, we could probably get the flow to move towards the wetland. However, at this site, it doesn’t look like it will work. I am sure with this low area the proposed swale, will become vegetated with wetland plants over time and provide some pretty good treatment. I believe on Perquimans 17, we can eliminate one of the swales. I modified the wetland line on that drawing and will be sending you and tracey some updated permit drawing sheets. Thanks, Clay From: Ward, Garcy Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2014 3:31 PM To: Willis, Thomas C Cc: tracey.l.wheeler@usace.army.mil Subject: Pasquotank Bridge 12 Clay, I reviewed your application for the replacement of Bridge 12 in Pasquotank Co. in the field yesterday. The plans call for creating a swale at the outlet of the stormwater discharge point in the NE quadrant (site #3) and carrying the water straight to the stream. There is no existing ditch in that quadrant now and the water from the roadway currently sheetflows off the shoulder and drains into the adjacent wetland at a low point. Would it be possible to redirect the swale away from the stream to this low point and let the water drain into the wetland? This would provide more opportunity for treatment. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
