I have reviewed the WWTP Closure Plan for Former Performance Fibers Closure Report. Overall the plan is well detailed
and comprehensive, my only comments are the following:
1. Section 4. Sampling Protocols does not include steps for wastewater sampling and analyzing, only sludge and/or
soil samples collected after dewatering each of the treatment system components.
a. Per the 2012 Guidelines for the Closure of Permitted Wastewater Ponds and Lagoons, Item A, samples of
wastewater should be collected and analyzed prior to dewatering ponds/lagoons.
2. Please revise the closure plan to include steps for sampling and analyzing wastewater from each of the
ponds/lagoons in the wastewater treatment system in accordance with Item A. 1-5.

Hi Sergei —Just curious if you've had a chance to take a look at the work plan? The plant is still operating to treat
stormwater going into drains on -site and the permit is likely to renewed to keep doing that until we can proceed the
closure. I believe the permit expires on 31 July 2021. It would be great to understand if this plan is able to be
implemented when the time arises to close the WWTP components.

Hi Nathaniel,
Hope you are well. I am writing to inquire about the status of a WWTP Closure Plan review. I am digging through
Laserfiche and saw a 12/4/2017 plan submitted to NCDEQ. I understand the plant has not been
decommissioned/demolished but I am wondering if DEQ has reviewed the 2017 plan and if there has been any
subsequent discussion or approval of the plan. Thanks so much for any information you may have.
