To whom it may concern,
I am writing in response to a previous meeting with Mr. David May at DWQ in Washington, N.C. Our
company, Lakeview Packing Co. Inc., has been closed since January 25 of this year. We are presently
looking to sell or lease the facility.
We closed for financial reasons and are struggling to survive until a possible buyer is found. However I'm
personally keeping the grass mowed and trying to maintain the facility up to required standards. The last
time we had to spray wastewater was September 2012. There is presently no waste water going into the
lagoon and none being sprayed.
We have, up to this point, continued testing and completing all reports as required by our permit. We
also just mailed the annual renewal for our permit.
Our request to your agency is to initiate an amendment to our permit to better reflect current
operational conditions. Any temporary relief you can offer to help us survive until a possible reopening
of the facility would be greatly appreciated. The testing is our biggest expense at this time. The effluent
sampling parameters and frequency, groundwater sampling and frequency, operator requirements, etc.
We were hoping we could stop all, or most, testing until the facility reopens. It would also be helpful if
we didn't have to pay a back-up operator while closed.
1 want to thank you in advance for any and all help or advice you can offer at this time. Also to thank
your department for all the past help and professionalism you have shown.
