The Town of Kenansville has submitted a request to extend sewer services
to serve the North Carolina Department of Corrections Facility at Kenansville.
It is estimated that the proposed sewer extension will contribute an
additional 10,000 GPD of domestic wastewater to the Town's wastewater treatment
plant.
It is requested that the Technical Services Branch complete the appropriate
modeling necessary to determine the additional impact of the proposed increase
in flow on existing water quality in the receiving stream (Grove Creek) in
accordance with GS 143-215.67(b)ii.

Re: N. C. Department of Correction
Duplin Subsidiary #4125
Municipal Sewerage Tie
Reference is made to your November 17, 1983, meeting with Mr. William N.
Stovall of this office, and Mr. Preston Howard of the Division of
Environmental Management, regarding our proposed municipal sewerage tie
for the Duplin Subsidiary.
The North Carolina Department of Correction would like to formally
request municipal sewer service from the Town.of Kenansville. The Duplin
Subsidiary currently utilizes a septic tank - surface discharge treatment
system that we anticipate abandoning once municipal sewer service becomes
available. Daily water usage at this facility averages approximately
10,000 gallons.
Your continuing co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
