Paul:
One other item is necessary to continue processing given the proposed well location was relocated:
• Please confirm that the new proposed location is at least twenty five feet from the wetlands area that was
observed on site. Information received by our office indicates that the wetlands area was a distinct feature from
the "small wetland/ephemeral surface water feature".
Thank you.

Thanks Eric — I just received the attached from MRA indicating the #14 location moved away from the small
wetland/ephemeral surface water feature Catherine noticed... does this allow you to issue permits for all requested
wells at this point?

Subject: RE: [External] Well Permits
HI Paul,
Public Water Supply (PWS) staff in the Raleigh Regional Office were consulted about the application submittal given
their staff had conducted a site visit regarding the water supply well construction application that was received for the
Sawyer's Mill S/D located in Wake County. PWS staff indicated that a surface water feature was present closer than
twenty five feet from the proposed location of well SW-14. Based on that conversation DWR requires the following
information to continue processing the application:
• 15A NCAC 02C .0107 (R) requires a setback of a minimum of twenty five (25) feet from any "brooks, creeks,
streams, ...". Please submit a revised figure that demonstrates that this location will meet or exceed the rule or
submit documentation that the surface water feature in question does not qualify as one of the features listed
in the 2C rules and how that was determined. It should be noted that one of the job duties of DWR staff in the
Regional Office is to make these determinations and assistance with this task is available.
Also, be aware that per 15A NCAC 02C .0107 (Q) there is a minimum fifty feet (50) setback for surface water bodies such
as "ponds, lakes, and reservoirs." These features were noted on site in the application.
This information is due on or before March 30, 2022. Please contact me with any questions.
Thank you.

Hi Eric, Nice speaking with you. As discussed please see the attached letter indicating setbacks will be met —this was
previously provided to DEQ for issuance of the location approval letter. Please let us know if there is anything else you

need for release of the permits. Hopefully - as you indicated if there are no other outstanding items you identify — they
can be released tomorrow or Friday.
Thank you
