The wastewater treatment system consists of two sanitary sewer lift stations and a 1.5 MGD wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater Treatment Plant is a Dual Train, Extended Aeration Plant with Secondary Clarification for the separation of liquids and solids, Post Aeration, Chlorination and De -Chlorination. Aerobic Digestion has been supplemented with Lime Stabilization to ensure that the treated Bio-solids produced after plant processing, meet EPA and NCDWQ regulations prior to disposal by land application. A monthly report of plant performance as determined by Laboratory analysis is submitted to the NCDWQ and an annual Bio-solids application report and Laboratory analysis is submitted to the EPA and NCDWQ Non -Discharge Branch. The plant is also responsible for two lift stations in the town's collection system. The Town of Spring Lake also owns and maintains approximately 46 miles of gravity sewer line and 2500 feet of force main sewer line. All aerial crossing and rights -of -way are inspected twice yearly and after large storm/flooding events to ensure compliance with the Towns collection permit. Compliance Performance The Spring Lake Wastewater Treatment plant received the following violations during the 2021 calendar year: • January 2021 — Exceeded permit discharge limit • February 2021 — Exceeded permit discharge limit • March 2021 — Plaiii bypass of 4,600 gallons (less than 1000 gallons reaching Little River) when a pipe burst in the plant. The Spring Lake collections system did not have a reportable sanitary sewer overflow during the reporting period Wastewater Treatment Plant Monthly and Yearly Flow The following table summarizes the amount of raw wastewater treated and released into the Little River.
