I was so depressed to learn about the proposed Westpoint development. West Point on the Eno park is an
irreplaceable treasure for Durham. It has meant so much to my family for so many years. Some of my children's
fondest memories were formed during explorations of the park. It is a much needed urban sanctuary in a city that
is rapidly developing and losing access to green spaces. It would be a tragic loss to have this peaceful space
despoiled by the noise, traffic, light, ugliness, and other forms of pollution this development would cause.
Blackmeadow Ridge is needed as a natural buffer between the forests of the park and urban development. It
protects the park and the Eno River from runoff, flooding, and noise pollution, and it provides 54 acres of wildlife
habitat. It would be criminal to let it be developed! Please do not approve this project.
