I've yet to see a construction project in my lifetime where the water doesn't turn bright orange from our red -clay
soil or where glorious trees aren't cut down to be replaced by saplings. While Durham does need more housing
—especially affordable housing —this isn't it. We need in -fill of existing space within the city, closer to
transportation and that will create the density that helps us move toward more alternative use of roads (such as
public transit and bikes). A community of townhouses does nothing but dirty our precious river and clog our
already busy roads.
I love the West Point on the Eno. I go there all the time with my dog, and the last thing I want to see is a muddy
mess of environmental degradation. Put that elsewhere —save our park by retaining a buffer zone!
