As someone who grew up in this city and currently lives here with my family now, I beg you not to build these
homes. Durham is growing so fast, and while that brings many new wonderful opportunities to the community,
we are also seeing the negative effects of such quick development. Gentrified neighborhoods that homed many
families for generations, gone. Affordable rent for studios for artists gone. Some of our wonderful local
businesses that became hallmarks of our town, gone. Sold to build condos and high rise offices. I am not
opposed to the growth of our city, but not at the cost of the things that made me and my family want to stay and
raise our kids here. Destroying the ecosystem of the Eno is unacceptable. This is NOT how we should expand
Durham. Once this is done, my grandchildren will see the sad effects of this choice made by people who wanted
to expand because of money, not because of their pride in Durham and desire to see it flourish. Please please
please do not do this. Let our beautiful natural spaces continue to exist without threat.
