Comment Development must be environmentally responsible or we will forever lose beautiful natural areas that are critically important for recreation and wildlife. You can build townhouses elsewhere, but you can't replace an ecosystem once it's destroyed and covered in concrete. Due to the unavoidable and intensive impact on the environment, any townhome development location must be very carefully chosen so as to not impact waterways and important wildlife habitat. Large developments like this involve clear -cutting huge tracts of land and then carting away the quality topsoil to leave only red clay that then erodes into the local waterways. Once the townhomes are built, such an area essentially becomes a massive concrete platform incapable of ever again supporting wildlife or allowing for the enjoyment of nature. When land is allowed to be used for this kind of development, it should be as far from such sensitive areas as possible to minimize that kind of impact. This will destroy the forest canopy, cause soil and toxins to enter the streams that feed into local swimming holes, and will set a precedent for how destructive future developments in the area can be.
