I am opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application. I do not think the assessments reflect
the true picture of the development's impacts and the impacts from the 401 Individual Clean Water Act Permit
disturbances. As a Durham resident for 33 years and a citizen scientist I have enjoyed studying the Eno River
Park flora and fauna. The damage that will be done by such a development adjacent to the park is terrible in so
many ways. I have seen development in Durham over the years and I have seen the shoddy ways the
developers put up little pieces of canvas to prevent silt run off. It always results in pollution of the nearby
waterways. Once waterways are silted up the macro invertebrates cannot exist and the food chain is broken.lt
cannot be repaired. It is inevitable that a development of this size will do untold damage to this wonderful habitat
and the animals and plants will be harmed. The idea of blasting and grading right alongside West Point on the
Eno is heartbreaking. This park is a gem in Durham and it should be protected from such a deleterious
development..
