You may recall a flurry of e-mails a year ago regarding the Individual 401
application we'd received for the referenced project. Many of the folks receiving
this message provided extensive comments directly to my attention. We had placed the
project on hold in August 2005, requesting specific information as well as
recommending and requesting environmental documentation in the form of a SEPA/NEPA
document addressing the many concerns raised. To date, the 401 Unit has not received
a response from the applicant. On August 2, 2006, I received a letter from the Corps
of Engineers - nobody is copied on this letter, hence the batch e-mail. Anyway, the
applicant has been notified that a federal EIS will be required. The Corps is
initiating the scoping process, with the kickoff meeting/work session to be held on
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Cleveland County Sanitary District office, 439 Casar
Lawndale Road, Lawndale, Clevelend County. There will of course be many more
meetings over the coming year(s), to include a Public Meeting. I'm grateful the
Corps is taking the lead on that public meeting.
The purpose of this message is to advise that this project is back on the radar. If
you would like to attend the scoping meeting, please reply and give me your fax
number so that I can fax you the Corps' letter. Thanks.
