SUBJECT: Project Information for the Duplin Bridge 352 replacement along Summerlins
Crossroad Road (SR 1004) over an unnamed tributary to Halls Marsh in Duplin
County, North Carolina (BR-0352)
WBS: BP3.R008

NCDOT Division 3 is beginning the project development, environmental, and engineering studies
for the Duplin Bridge 352 (BR-0352) replacement project. The project proposes to replace the
bridge carrying Summerlins Crossroad Road (SR 1004) over Hookers Branch in Duplin County.
The project is included in the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s 2020-2029 State
Transportation Improvement Program and is scheduled for right of way in fiscal year 2022 and
construction in fiscal year 2023. Figure 1 shows the study area map for the proposed project.
NCDOT is preparing a Minimum Criteria Determination Checklist (MCDC). NCDOT has made
the preliminary determination that the project will not proceed through the Merger Process.

In lieu of holding an in-person scoping meeting, NCDOT is providing the attached project
information and maps. We welcome your input on the proposed project (BR-0352), and we would
appreciate any information that may be helpful in evaluating the potential environmental effects.
If applicable, please identify any permits or approvals that may be required by your organization.
