Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (Aqua) offers the following response to the above -referenced Compliance Evaluation
Inspection which was issued for the inspection conducted on January 13, 2022.
Per CEI, Aqua should respond to:
A concern was noted during this inspection as to sufficient filter media in both tertiary filters. This Office
requests Aqua NC staff to perfoi in an evaluation on the filter media in both tertiary filters and submit the
findings by February 18, 2022. In addition, the response must also include the actions taken to ensure the
operators are provided a safe access to the flow measurement system during future flow meter calibrations.
Aqua's Response: Alexander Island WWTP is operating in compliance with its permit limits with the
filters as installed. The existing filters were identified as a capital improvement and have been included in
Aqua's capital budget for rehabilitation. We are currently evaluating the access to the flow meter and will
ensure the operator has safe access.
