HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.05.22 Discharge Notice.Notice of Discharge of Untreated Sewage The Town of Shallotte had a discharge of untreated wastewater from our force main located at the intersection of Wall St. and Main St of approximately 14,000 gallons. The discharge occurred on the night of March 5th 2022 for approximately 2 hours. The untreated wastewater entered into the Shallotte River in the Lumber River Basin. The broken line was immediately repaired to prevent further discharge. This notice was required by North Carolina General Statutes, Article 21, Chapter 143.215.1C For more information contact the Town of Shallotte at 910.754.4032. Press Release Notification of Discharge of Untreated Sewage North Carolina General Statute 143.215.1C requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters. In accordance with that regulation, the following news release has been prepared and issued to media in the affected county.
