I heard that Mr. James Moore retired recently, so I am sending this information to you for CommScope, Inc, - Catawba
Facility (COC NCG030078).
James,
Per the general permit for CommScope, Inc. (NCG030000) Catawba Facility (under COC NCG030078), sampling was
completed on the following ROS Outfalls for the site on February 3rd, 2022 with a rainfall event totaling 0.28" of
rain. Results were received from the laboratory (Statesville Analytical) on Monday, February 28t", 2022. For this event,
the following outfalls exceeded benchmark values for the following parameters:
1) Outfall 003 - Copper result was 0.062 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.010 mg/L
2) Outfall 003 - Zinc result was 0.34 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.126 mg/L
3) Outfall 004 - Zinc result was 0.20 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.126 mg/L
4) Outfall 005 - Copper result was 0.014 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.010 mg/L
5) Outfall 005 - Zinc result was 0.285 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.126 mg/L
6) Outfall 005 - No Oil & Grease sample was analyzed as the bottle broke in the freezer while being held at the
CommScope Laboratory over the weekend prior to taking to Statesville Analytical - benchmark is 15mg/L
7) Outfall 006 - Oil & Grease result was 16.9 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 15 mg/L
8) Outfall 006 - Zinc result was 0.14 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.126 mg/L
9) Outfall 009 - Copper result was 0.014 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.010 mg/L
10) Outfall 009 - No Oil & Grease sample was analyzed as the bottle broke in the freezer while being held at the
CommScope Laboratory over the weekend prior to taking to Statesville Analytical - benchmark is 15mg/L
11) Outfall 012 - Zinc result was 0.17 mg/L - exceeded benchmark of 0.126 mg/L
Please note that these exceedances will be documented in the SWPPP, and corrective action steps will be implemented
to reduce these exceedances. Furthermore, best management practices will be utilized to assist with reductions for
these parameters exceeding their respective benchmark values.
