Effluent monitoring for the five limited metals is required Monday through Friday. If Monday's sample meets the weekly average limit, then no more analyses are required for the week. If Monday's sample exceeds the weekly average, then samples must be analyzed for all days, and the weekly average and daily maximum limits must be met. The weekly average limits reflect the current daily max limits except for nickel which is based on the new water quality standard. Our current permit requires weekly analyses of Cyanide, Cadmium, Lead, Chromium, and Nickel. The following are current daily maximum limits on these parameters. Cyanide --- 5 ug/l Cadmium --- 2 ug/l _ Lead 26 ug/l Chromium - 52 ug/l Nickel --- 53 ug/1 I would like to request that these limits be listed as weekly average limits, and that the daily maximum limits be set on the no -acute toxicity system. With the above changes I feel we could better monitor our discharge limitations. I feel by analyzing one sample per week we could meet the new limits, but if we should exceed the daily maximum we would have the flexibility of additional analyses. Since we already preserve samples daily for metals and Cyanide analysis our operation would stay the same. Enclosed is our permit modification fee of $25.00. I would like to thank you and Mr. Clements for all of your help in this matter.
