WBS # 17BP.1.R.60 The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a NW 3 permit and corresponding DWQ certification for the replacement of Low Impact Bridge # 12 in Northampton County. The bridge is located on SR 1344 approximately 0.40 miles southwest of the intersection with Britton Road at Lewters Crossroad. The.bridge spans Rogers Swamp, which is classified by DWQ as class "C, NSW" waters. Bridge # 12 is currently a 3 -span timber structure with a timber deck that is 52 ft. long by 20 ft. wide. This structure will be removed using NCDOT's guidelines for bridge removal. The proposed bridge will be replaced on its existing alignment. The new bridge structure will be 85' long by 30' wide and built with a precast cored slab concrete deck. Jurisdictional wetland and surface water impacts have been minimized, resulting in no jurisdictional impacts. An off -site detour will be utilized during construction. This bridge is following the Low Impact Bridge Process established by FHWA, NCDOT, and Regulatory Agencies. Included with this letter are the location map, permit drawings, and Low Impact Data Sheet.
