Town of Mars Hill Water Plant Lagoon
Solids Handling Plan
At the current time The Town of Mars Hill is utilizing a Geotube to dewater our Alum
Sludge. We have a temporary permit to place the Geotube above the Lagoon and the
effluent from the Geotube is carried back to the Lagoon before discharge. At such time
when the Geotube is full and dry the town will haul the alum sludge to an approved
landfill or disposal site. The lagoon will hold sludge for 5 to 7 years before it requires
pumping.
